God
We believe there is one God who created the universe out of nothing. He is all-good, all-knowing, and all-powerful. We believe that this one God exists in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Exodus 34:6-7; Acts 17:24; 2 Corinthians 13:6).
Jesus
We believe Jesus is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and Holy Spirit. He voluntarily took on human flesh, was born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life. Because of His love for mankind, He died for our sins, was buried, was resurrected after three days, and afterward ascended to the right hand of the Father (John 1:1-5, 14; Colossians 1:13-20; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8).
HOLY SPIRIT
We believe the Holy Spirit is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and Son. It was by His influence that the Bible was inspired, and by it He continues to speak today. After Jesus’ ascension, the Spirit was given to everyone who obeys the gospel as a guarantee of their spiritual inheritance. He provides the church with the spiritual gifts that it needs to accomplish its work here on earth (Acts 5:32; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7; Ephesians 1:13; 2 Peter 1:21; Revelation 1:7).
THE BIBLE
We believe the Bible is inspired by God and is free from error in everything that it teaches. While all of Scripture is useful, people living today are only obligated to uphold the covenant of Jesus Christ, not the covenant of Moses which was for the Jewish nation. It is possible for anyone to understand the Bible, and it alone provides the source of information about God’s will for our lives (2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 8:7-13; Acts 17:11).
MANKIND
We believe that mankind, sharing the image of God, is the pinnacle of creation. When God created Adam and Eve, the first humans, they were innocent and in a perfect relationship with God. However, they exercised their free will to rebel against God, violating His law, and thereby severed that relationship. Each morally accountable person has chosen to follow Adam and Eve in their rebellion against God, making us His enemies (Genesis 1:26-27; 3:1-10; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1-3).
SALVATION
We believe that, since each person has violated God’s laws, and since justice demands punishment for those violations, each person deserves God’s just punishment. However, God sent Jesus to voluntarily receive that punishment as a substitute for us, therefore granting us pardon and salvation. We accept this gift of grace by trusting in Jesus, confessing Him as our Lord, repenting of our sinful behavior, and by being immersed in water. Having done this, God promises to forgive our sins and to place us in Christ where every spiritual blessing is found (Isaiah 53; Acts 2:38; Romans 5:6-10; 6:3-14; 10:8-11; Colossians 2:9-15).
THE CHURCH
We believe the church belongs to Jesus and that it is comprised of each person who is in Christ. In Christ we are family, caring for one another, and transcending any worldly lines of division. Independent congregations of these believers meet all over the world and are under the sole authority of God as revealed in Scripture. Christ’s church at West Broward is led spiritually by elders and ministers, and served by deacons, just as the New Testament prescribes (Matthew 16:18; 1 Corinthians 12:12-28; Ephesians 4:11-16).
ETERNITY
We believe everyone will face God’s judgement, either after their death, or when Jesus returns to destroy the world. Those who have rejected God will spend eternity in torment, being separated from God. In contrast, those who have accepted God will enter into eternal paradise, being in the very presence of God (Matthew 25:31-46; Acts 17:30-31; Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 20:12-15).
